Customers praised this steak and ale pie as "the best pie ever" with "fabulous pastry" and generous filling of "tender meat" and "rich gravy." Most loved it being "full to the brim" with chunks of beef. Some concerns: pastry thickness, occasional gristle, difficulty removing from tin, and ingredient additives. A few found it bland or pricey with postage.

  • Best pie ever and I've tried quite a few.
  • Fabulous with no grizzle, fat or jelly, just good succulent meat with a rich gravy

Just beautiful- and the packaging was supurb, almost an artform.
Only one problem! My wife saw my pie, and wanted one, instead of her supermarket chicken in white wine.

The case pastry is hard to take out of the aluminium case as it doesn't cook as hard as the lid pastry.

Not For Us.

Sorry, We are not happy with eating anything that has 'seed oil's in its ingredients, (rapeseed and definitely not Palm Oil)
The other ingredient that is a nasty one, is Maltodextrin, that seems to be in many things these days and has a very bad reputation. We will not be ordering any more from you.

Pie Makers Since 1936

The origins of our bakery date back to 1936 when Wilfred Charles Lewis, a local of Swansea & Gower, decided to start making pies for the community.

Wilfred Charles started his small bakery in a single room in Fleet Street, Sandfields. He made his pies in solid metal tins and cooled them on the pavement outside. Wilfred perfected his craft, and soon enough he gained a reputation for his delectable pies.

Today and since 2013 it’s the third generation of the Lewis family, Wilfred James Lewis, that continues to guide the business.
