Customers praised these steak and kidney pies as "outstanding" with "plenty of meat" and "superb pastry." Most found them "well filled" with "great taste" and rich gravy. However, some noted concerns about lids coming off during cooking, inconsistent kidney content, and occasional gristle. A few felt the filling lacked seasoning or needed more flavor.

  • Simply outstanding, meat content, flavour, pastry, all superb

It's a beautiful tasting pie. Plenty of meat, kidney and gravy inside. When all 4 pies have been eaten, I will try try another of you pie flavours, or perhaps not, as this pie has a mouthwatering taste.

The case pastry is hard to take out of the aluminium case as it doesn't cook as hard as the lid pastry.

Pies are okay but not much flavour especially Kidney.

These pie's are simply outstanding, meat content, flavour, pastry, all superb. The best part for me personally though is the fact that they're not over spiced dreck, what is it with people these days, if it's not so fiercely spiced that you spend an agonizing week confined to the toilet it's not spiced enough, ever heard of a thing called subtle flavouring because the Guys & Gals at Wilfred's get this sooooo right. (Please don't ever give into the over spice fiends, they've ruined practically everything else that's available to eat) Anyway these will be my favourite go to pie for as long as they're made in this way, sorry I can't include a photo, but the fact is they never stay around long enough on my plate to take one. Keep up the good work & please keep away from the temptation to over spice, let those who like that kinda thing seek their personal nirvana elsewhere, let's save something really good for those of us that still have fully functioning taste buds, what do you say?

Looks lovely, plenty of filling.

Really good pastry

The pastry is fantastic and the pie was good but unfortunately I did have a little gristle in two of them. I was disappointed but have re-ordered some more as the others were really good and I enjoyed them. Hoping the next batch will be okay.

Pie Makers Since 1936

The origins of our bakery date back to 1936 when Wilfred Charles Lewis, a local of Swansea & Gower, decided to start making pies for the community.

Wilfred Charles started his small bakery in a single room in Fleet Street, Sandfields. He made his pies in solid metal tins and cooled them on the pavement outside. Wilfred perfected his craft, and soon enough he gained a reputation for his delectable pies.

Today and since 2013 it’s the third generation of the Lewis family, Wilfred James Lewis, that continues to guide the business.
